Dear Working Women,
We are under attack. Across the country, extremist politicians and corporate billionaires are working to eliminate hard won protections for working women. They claim they are fighting what they call “illegal DEI,” but we know the truth: this manufactured hysteria is an attack on all women in the workplace.
Executive orders and government actions are making workplaces less safe for women, rolling back civil rights enforcement, erasing our progress, and blocking our efforts to achieve fair wages and have a fair shot to succeed in good-paying jobs. Companies are following suit. These moves threaten to unravel decades of safeguards for all women workers, especially Black women, immigrant women, and women of color. They’re designed to knock us down – out of leadership, off the ladder to better jobs, and further from economic security.
We must fight back now. When they say they are attacking “illegal DEI” they are actually targeting the protections that help us receive fair pay, stay safe from workplace harassment, access leadership roles, and get caregiving support. If we don’t course-correct, we are letting politicians put this nation’s economy and our livelihoods at risk.
That is why The 75 Million is launching a national campaign and call to action: to reaffirm that working women are essential to our nation’s economic strength and future.
Here’s what we will do – together: The 75 Million campaign will hold policy makers accountable as they block policies that support working women. We’ll help you talk with your coworkers about what really matters – fairness, safety, and opportunity – and support your leadership as you get organized. And we will urge business leaders and our favorite brands to live up to their stated values by taking real action to ensure fair treatment for all women, not just corporate staff but for the women working in their stores, factories, fields, trucks and warehouses.
Women make up half the workforce. We are breadwinners, innovators, caregivers, and leaders. We decide how and where our families spend our hard-earned dollars. And we refuse to let a small group of extremists decimate our hard fought progress and dictate our future.
Women are the backbone of this economy. And politicians want to take away our choices and freedom. Don’t let them. Speak up – in your workplace, your community, and online.
We are working women.
We are organized.
We are watching.
And we are demanding better.
