Economic Justice Policy Associate

The National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization that fights for equity for all women and families. We’re passionate about making change on big issues such as equal pay for all women, paid leave for working families and access to affordable health care that provides abortion and reproductive care. We advocate on the Hill and for federal, state and local policy.

We are seeking an Economic Justice Policy Associate to support the team in furthering the National Partnership’s policy goals by supporting coalition engagement and updating partner organizations on advancements in paid family and medical leave and paid sick leave, assisting with policy and factual research, monitoring news and tracking press clips, maintaining and updating databases, and supporting scheduling and expenses to the Economic Justice team.

The Economic Justice Policy Associate Position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Vice President for Economic Justice. The National Partnership is a hybrid organization where staff are required to report to the office a minimum four (4) days a month.

Responsibilities

  • Supports National Work and Family Coalition by planning bimonthly meetings, updating listservs, and maintaining organizational sign-on letters;
  • Monitors relevant news;
  • Supports logistics for events, written products and internal organization projects;
  • Assists team members with academic and legislative research and data requests;
  • Supports the team in drafting and updating fact sheets and issue briefs for public dissemination to Hill and coalition partners;
  • Edits and proofs fact sheets, issue briefs, reports, coalition emails and other written communications;
  • Responds to requests for information from the public and coalition members;
  • Occasionally represents the organization to external partners;
  • Provides administrative support to the team and Vice President;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

An ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate that they are:

  • An excellent verbal and written communicator;
  • Highly attentive to detail in written documents and when supporting meetings and events;
  • Extremely well organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Curious about and familiar with research and finding out information and evaluating its quality;
  • Familiar with office technology and software;
  • A strong interest in and passion for the mission of the organization and economic and health justice issues;
  • Comfortable working as part of a team and in a collaborative environment; and
  • Understanding of racial and gender justice concepts and commitment to centering them in work projects and interactions (both internal and external) by addressing structural implications and disproportionate impacts of policies and institutions on historically oppressed groups.

Classification

The National Partnership recognizes a staff bargaining unit, National Partnership United, affiliated with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union/IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in the NP United bargaining unit. Specific employment terms are subject to collective bargaining.

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this role is $60,215-$66,110 with the exact salary determined by years of relevant experience, in alignment with NPWF’s compensation setting criteria.

The Economic Justice Policy Associate is a full-time position based in our Washington, DC office. The National Partnership maintains a hybrid work environment where staff are required to be in the office a minimum of 4 days per month, with additional in-office and in-person days determined by your role and job responsibilities.
