“By the thinnest of margins, in National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA) v. Becerra, the U.S. Supreme Court today ruled in favor of fake anti-abortion entities that masquerade as comprehensive health care clinics and prey on women seeking reproductive health care. The tactics these so-called clinics use — deceiving, misleading, shaming and delaying care for women — are despicable. Yet our highest court has now allowed them to continue. Quite simply, the highest court in our land failed to stand up for the simple proposition that women seeking health care deserve the truth. This is a sad day for our country.
This ruling devalues women, undermining our health and denying us basic rights. It allows anti-abortion zealots to continue targeting young women, women of color and low-income women in ways that delay and deny them access to the health care they need.
President Trump’s appointee, Justice Neil Gorsuch, cast the deciding vote in this case — reminding us all what is at stake with judicial appointments.
We will not stop fighting until fake women’s health centers are held accountable for their lies and deception. Women deserve unbiased information about all their health care options.
The fight for reproductive health care is the fight for women’s equality. We will not rest until women’s fundamental rights are secure.”
