Partnership in Action: An Employer Guide to Building Gender Equity in the Workplace is a blueprint for employers looking to promote and implement equitable policies at their companies, and provides recommendations that would help women, especially women of color, return to and stay in the labor force.

Why it’s important, helpful & what it covers

The policies within the guide would give working families the supports necessary to achieve balance at work and at home. It includes policy issues that the National Partnership has historically worked toward and that voters showed up for in the recent elections, such as equal pay and protections against pregnancy discrimination, as well as paid family and medical leave, which the organization has advocated for across almost three decades.

Who should use it

Companies and employers should use the guide to develop new policies and provide better benefits to their employees, particularly those who are part-time, hourly or low-wage workers.

How to implement it?

Some ways the recommendations in the guide can be implemented:

  • Develop policies that are shaped and prioritized with involvement from part-time, hourly and low-wage workers.
  • Understand how to create plain-language resources that help employees understand these policies.
  • Cultivate a managerial culture that supports and encourages usage of these policies.
