Statement of Jocelyn Frye, President of the National Partnership for Women & Families

WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 12, 2024 – The National Partnership for Women & Families praised the critical investments to support working families in President Biden’s recently announced FY2025 budget proposal. As families continue to face rising costs and competing work and family needs, President Biden is committing to supporting them by investing in: a comprehensive national paid family and medical leave policy, paid sick leave for every worker, funding for the care economy and greater resources to enforce worker protections and hold employers accountable for discrimination and labor violations. Jocelyn C. Frye, President of the National Partnership, released the following statement:

“This year’s budget proposal makes at least one thing clear: President Biden is focused on investing in much-needed solutions to address the needs of working families. Supporting America’s working families means building an economy that works for everyone and centering the needs of those who face the steepest hurdles, including women of color. The President’s proposed investments in a comprehensive, national paid leave program and paid sick leave for every worker are critical solutions to ending the impossible decisions that working women have to make between earning a paycheck and caring for themselves or their loved ones. Paid leave is not only popular among voters across party lines, but also gaining strong momentum in both the House and the Senate. We urge Congress and President Biden to deliver on this promise and make a national paid leave program the law of the land.
