“Today the House of Representatives escalated its relentless attack on women’s health, passing legislation that would impose a 20-week ban on abortion nationwide. Last minute attempts to amend this legislation aren’t fooling anyone. If it became law, this bill would jeopardize women’s health while injecting politics into personal decisions that should be made by a woman and her doctor. Americans do not want politicians to impose criminal and civil penalties on doctors for providing quality health care to women, nor do they want the House to waste time passing unconstitutional legislation that will never become law.
This legislation does not represent the nation’s priorities. Rather than attacking women’s health, the House should work to improve the health and economic security of women and their families by passing the Healthy Families Act, the Paycheck Fairness Act, Quality Care for Moms and Babies Act, and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.”
