The new Innovation in Behavioral Health (IBH) model from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation offers significant potential to improve the way care is provided to people with behavioral health conditions. The model tests a new payment-and-delivery approach to integrate care for physical health, behavioral health, and health related social needs within behavioral health practices, embracing a “no wrong door” approach in accessing and delivering whole-person care. The IBH model has potential to enhance women’s health and outcomes, but more attention to their health needs and overall well-being is necessary to effectively do so. This brief provides an overview of the model and highlights key opportunities to better support women’s health.
