Standing Together to Unrig the System for Working People

| Feb 24, 2018

Working people need supportive workplace policies – and strong unions – to ensure their economic security and ability to care for themselves and their families.

That’s why, today, we’re joining thousands of activists and advocates across the country to fight for a level playing field at a time when our economy is being rigged. We are demanding fair wages; an end to sexual harassment; quality, affordable health care; family friendly workplace policies; and the right to organize.

We hope you will join us by participating in the Working People’s Day of Action and showing solidarity with working people across the country today and in the days and months ahead. Learn more at ItsAboutFreedom.org and find an event near you.

If you can’t make it to an event, you can help raise awareness on social media by changing your profile photo, joining the Thunderclap or sharing an image. Get helpful resources here.

The Working People’s Day of Action comes as people across the country are fighting back against the Trump administration’s attacks on women, low-wage workers and communities of color. The president has rolled back overtime pay protections and proposed taking away workers’ tips, allowed states to impose Medicaid work requirements, proposed deep funding cuts for essential programs, and blocked an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission initiative that would have identified and rooted out pay discrimination.

And on Monday, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Janus v. AFSCME Council 31 – a case that threatens to undermine public sector unions and further rig the system against working people.

We can’t let that happen, which is why the National Partnership will be rallying in front of the Court on Monday with union members and other partners. We will continue to speak out and take action when the dignity and economic security of working people are threatened.
