“Low-income women were the target today when the House of Representatives passed its third outrageous anti-women’s health bill in two weeks. This bill would give states unchecked power to exclude providers from the Medicaid network based solely on ideology. It uses the Medicaid system as a vehicle to harm abortion providers and the women they serve.
The Women’s Public Health and Safety Act is dangerous and deceptively named. It is, in fact, another shameful piece of legislation crafted by anti-abortion extremists determined to eliminate women’s access to safe, legal abortion care. It is especially callous that this legislation directly targets low-income women who rely on Medicaid for health care coverage and would endanger their health and well-being.
Enough is enough. These bills are dangerous and destructive. It’s past time Congress stop playing politics with women’s health and get back to the business of governing.”
