National Partnership for Women & Families Calls for National Paid Sick Days Through Support of Healthy Families Act

Statement of Jocelyn Frye, President of the National Partnership for Women & Families

The Healthy Families Act was introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Rosa DeLauro and Sen. Bernie Sanders today.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – February 12, 2026 – “Workers can’t afford to miss a paycheck when they need time off for a doctor’s appointment or when their sick child has to stay home from school, and the Healthy Families Act would make it so they don’t have to.

“We applaud the work of Rep. Rosa DeLauro and Sen. Bernie Sanders for their leadership, ensuring the Healthy Families Act has another chance to become law.

“With one in five workers nationwide still lacking access to paid sick days, this bill would help guarantee that no one has to choose between their job and their health or family.

“We are grateful to all supporters of this bill for fighting to make our workplaces safe, fair and equitable, and we will continue to stand with them and fight for the supports working families need now more than ever to ensure they thrive both on the job and at home.”
