National Partnership for Women & Families’ Staff Ratify First Collective Bargaining Agreement

WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 17, 2024 – The National Partnership for Women & Families (NPWF) and the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU), IFPTE Local 70, are proud to announce the ratification of their first collective bargaining agreement. National Partnership United (NPU), a chapter within NPEU, was formally recognized in January of 2021 and negotiations for a first contract began later that year. The new contract represents a significant step forward in advancing a fair and equitable workplace, with enhanced protections, transparent processes, and strengthened benefits for all union members.

The agreement includes important provisions such as a progressive disciplinary process, across-the-board salary increases each year of the agreement, increased transparency in performance reviews, unit involvement in hiring committees, and a commitment to provide Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism (DEIA) trainings to staff. Additionally, the contract secures 16 weeks of 100 percent paid family and medical leave; codifies flexible leave policy for vacation, sick and other types of leave; guarantees annual SEP-IRA contributions; and allows for flexible work schedules, among other key benefits.

Amy Chin-Lai, President of NPEU, commented on the agreement, saying:
“This contract is a testament to our members who have been relentless in the fight for a fairer, more supportive work environment. We are thrilled with the progress this agreement represents, and we look forward to continuing to build a collaborative and respectful relationship with NPWF management.”

Jessica Mason of the NPU bargaining committee added:
“This agreement is a major victory for our members, who stood united throughout a challenging negotiation process. We are proud of what we’ve achieved, despite the difficulties we faced along the way. This contract reflects our members’ vision and commitment to advancing workplace fairness and supporting members in every aspect of their professional lives.”

Jocelyn C. Frye, President of National Partnership for Women & Families said: “The National Partnership for Women & Families has worked throughout our history to promote workplaces that are fair and equitable, and that work has included an unflinching belief in the important role of the union movement and its workers as a collaborative partner to achieve this goal. We are proud to be a workplace where our members now have, both formal representation and a strong union contract. I am grateful for the hard work of our management and union bargaining teams on this agreement, and we look forward to a long and collegial relationship with National Partnership-United, as we work together to uphold our shared commitment to a workplace that reflects our values.”

The newly ratified collective bargaining agreement will go into effect immediately, marking a new chapter of cooperation and mutual respect between NPWF and its dedicated employees.
