NPWF Announces Anwesha Majumder As Organization’s First Economist

WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 12, 2023 – Today the National Partnership for Women & Families announced the addition of Anwesha Majumder as the organization’s first economist. Anwesha will play a central role in the National Partnership’s development of quantitative economic research to advance the organization’s research and policy agendas. Her work will focus, in particular, on examining gender- and race-based and other barriers to economic participation affecting women workers, especially those confronting women of color and women with disabilities.

Prior to joining the National Partnership, Anwesha used her analytical skills to pursue health equity and health care quality improvement at the Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission and as part of the US News & World Report Best Hospitals team, as well as economic justice for women of color at TIME’S UP. She has also performed field epidemiology for vaccine-preventable diseases and monitored public health priorities at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization.

Anwesha will bring her expertise in data analysis to identify key research priorities and build the National Partnership’s in-house research capacity.

“Having a robust economic research team is essential in cultivating the full story of how policies and systems can support women and help achieve economic stability for families,” said Jocelyn Frye, president of the National Partnership for Women & Families. “I’m thrilled to have Anwesha on our team as we work to translate valuable research into action.”

“I was particularly drawn to the National Partnership because of the dual emphasis on economic justice and health justice through a racial justice lens,” said Anwesha Majumder, economist at the National Partnership for Women & Families. “I’m excited that the National Partnership recognizes this inextricable link, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with such brilliant and motivated people to work towards our shared vision of a better world.”
