Press Statement
Supreme Court Restores DACA Protections

“Today’s Supreme Court decision rejecting Trump’s mean-spirited attack on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is one we wholeheartedly support. Writing for the majority, Chief Justice Roberts called Trump’s action rescinding DACA “arbitrary and capricious” and said the administration failed to forward a valid rationale to end the program.

DACA, an executive order issued by former President Obama, granted temporary protection from deportation to nearly 800,000 young people who came to the United States as children. DACA allowed them to emerge from the shadows, and live, study and work in the only country most have ever called home. DACA recipients embody the American dream. Many are essential workers risking their own lives to help others during the COVID-19 crisis. The ruling is a timely reminder of the profound debt we owe young immigrants for their contribution to the nation.”
