Press Release
Udochi Onwubiko Joins NPWF as Managing Director for Economic Justice Policy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 9, 2025 – Today the National Partnership for Women & Families announced the addition of Udochi Onwubiko as the Managing Director for Economic Justice Policy. In this role, Udochi will lead and manage the economic justice team’s policy and advocacy portfolio to advance the National Partnership’s policy priorities and defend decades of progress around paid leave, paid sick days, the wage gap and more, to promote women’s economic well-being, health and racial and gender equity.

Udochi brings to the role over a decade of experience and subject matter expertise in work and family policy, with a deep understanding of federal policy processes and a commitment to improving outcomes for people who have been systematically excluded.

Prior to joining the National Partnership, Udochi worked at the intersection of racial and economic justice as the director of economic justice at Demos. Before Demos, she served as Labor Policy Advisor with the Biden-Harris Administration in the Office of the Vice President. Prior to that, she worked for the U.S. Department of Labor in the Wage and Hour Division, working to support implementation of federal employment laws and empower vulnerable workers to exercise their rights.

In her time as Labor Policy Counsel for the U.S. House Committee on Education and Labor, Udochi helped pass laws providing paid sick leave and childcare leave during the height of the pandemic, and pushed to center racial equity in economic security policymaking, including spearheading a historic congressional hearing on the legacy of the racist exclusion of Black workers in federal wage laws.

“We are thrilled to have Udochi join our team, particularly during such a critical time in the fight for policies that will help workers, especially women workers, to balance their work and family responsibilities, access better job opportunities, thrive in their workplaces and be able to support themselves and their families,” said Jocelyn Frye, President at the National Partnership for Women & Families. “Udochi’s experience is uniquely suited to bolster our capacity and readiness for the fights ahead of us.”

“I have spent my career fighting for workplace policies that improve the lives of women and Black and brown communities, and have greatly valued and relied on the National Partnership’s work for years,” said Udochi Onwubiko, Managing Director for Economic Justice. “I’m excited to continue my work to build an economy that works for everyone at such a well-respected, impactful organization.”
