WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 20, 2025 – Today, the National Partnership for Women & Families announced the additions of Shalanda Young and Neneki Lee to the Board of Directors. Both were appointed effective November 2025.
Young brings over two decades of experience in shaping, negotiating, and managing federal spending. She is an expert in the federal budget process, and the inner workings of Congress and the executive branch – skills she honed by directing the Office of Management and Budget, serving in the president’s cabinet, and leading the House Appropriations Committee staff. A Louisiana native, she began her career as a Presidential Management Fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is now a distinguished scholar at NYU Law and a Doris Duke Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy.
Lee joins the Partnership’s Board as a seasoned labor advocate, with expertise in union leadership and a track record of advancing collective bargaining rights and strengthening worker power—especially for women and workers of color. She currently serves as the Chief of Staff of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), representing more than two million workers across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Previously, she worked as Deputy to the Secretary-Treasurer and as National Division Director for Public Services, where she oversaw 800,000 public sector workers and led a major organizing victory that secured collective bargaining rights for 45,000 family child care providers in California.
“Shalanda Young and Neneki Lee bring extraordinary expertise, vision, and commitment to our mission, and we are honored to welcome them to the National Partnership for Women & Families board,” said Jocelyn Frye, President of National Partnership for Women & Families. “Their deep experience, from shaping federal policy at the highest levels to advancing the rights and dignity of millions of workers, will strengthen our work at a moment when women and families need powerful champions.”
“We are thrilled to bring on Shalanda and Neneki, two talented and insightful leaders, to our Board of Directors,” said Shreya Jani, Chair of National Partnership for Women & Families’ Board. “I look forward to working alongside them as we continue our long-standing work to improve the lives of women and families and address the critical work ahead to continue our progress.”
