Women’s Health Leader Denounces Formation of House Select Investigative Panel As ‘Another Callous Attempt To Block Women’s Access to Abortion Care’

“Anti-abortion extremists in the House of Representatives continue to embarrass themselves by putting politics ahead of women’s health and demonstrating utter disregard for what women and families in this country want and need. Their latest shameful action is today’s formation of a costly and unnecessary Select Investigative Panel on Planned Parenthood. It is simply another callous attempt to block women’s access to abortion care.

Since this recent spate of wasteful, baseless hearings, legislative initiatives and budget actions began, there has been zero evidence of any wrongdoing by Planned Parenthood – nothing at all to justify the formation of this investigative panel. In fact, polls show that Americans support Planned Parenthood and the high-quality health care it provides to millions.

This panel is politically motivated, pure and simple. Attacks on Planned Parenthood are attacks on women’s health. After weeks of this nonsense, it is past time Congress turn its attention back to legislation that will improve the quality and value of health care, make our country’s workplaces more fair and family friendly, and put real economic security within reach for every family.”
