Across race and ethnicity, all women workers in the United States are paid just 78 cents for every dollar paid to men.

That’s nearly $13,800 less per year – the equivalent of approximately 16 months of food, 13 months of child care, 7 months of mortgage payments or the full cost of tuition and fees at a two-year community college.

For women of color, double binds of race and gender lead to even more punishing wage gaps. At the current glacial pace of change, women of color will have to wait more than a century to reach pay parity with white men.
