What is TMaH?
The Transforming Maternal Health (TMaH) initiative is a care delivery and payment reform model. TMaH aims to improve maternal health experiences and outcomes for people enrolled in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). CMS is providing 15 states with financial support and technical assistance over 10 years, beginning January 1, 2025 (see map below).
Regardless of whether states were selected to participate in the model, the TMaH framework serves as a robust blueprint for all state Medicaid agencies and partners to improve maternal health.
