Statement of Jocelyn Frye, President of the National Partnership for Women & Families WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 28, 2024 – Today, the Supreme Court upended sound, longstanding, legal precedent that has provided protections for everyday people for decades...
“The House of Representatives today passed an outrageous, grossly irresponsible bill that attacks women’s health, once again demonstrating where House leaders’ priorities lie.
H.R. 4712 is part of a reprehensible onslaught against women’s health and abortion rights. This month, as the country celebrates the 45th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, politicians who seek to eliminate access to abortion care are trying once again to punish abortion providers and stigmatize abortion care.
Nobody should be fooled by H.R. 4712. Its purpose is to mislead the public about abortion and deny women access to the reproductive health care they need. We urge Congress to stop wasting time on dangerous, irresponsible legislation and instead work to improve women’s health and expand access to comprehensive health care – including abortion care.”
