The National Partnership for Women & Families will hold its annual gala this Thursday, June 7 at the Washington Hilton Hotel. The event looks at the challenges facing the nation’s women and families and the programs and policies women need.

Honorees Gabrielle Union, celebrated actor, producer, author, entrepreneur and women’s rights advocate and Kerry Washington, award-winning actor, producer and social justice activist.

DETAILS: The event will feature remarks from Sandberg, Union, Brewer and Washington as well as National Partnership President Debra L. Ness, who will discuss the challenges facing women and families and the organization’s work to make the country more healthy, fair and family friendly. She will talk about the need for quality, affordable health care; contraceptive and abortion coverage and care; a national paid family and medical leave insurance program; a federal paid sick days standard; an end to pay discrimination and sexual harassment; fair schedules; and livable wages.
The program will include remarks by General Electric’s Vice President, Global Competition and Antitrust Sharis Arnold Pozen, who is vice chair of the National Partnership’s board of directors and will serve as emcee at the gala.
