Press Statement
National Partnership Statement on Julie Swetnick’s Allegations Against Judge Kavanaugh

“We cannot say it any louder — this sham process must be stopped immediately and this tainted nomination should be immediately withdrawn. As a third woman, Julie Swetnick, comes out with sexual assault allegations against Judge Brett Kavanaugh, it’s even clearer these hearings must not go forward. Despite Judge Kavanaugh’s attempts to portray himself as someone who respects women and who spent his youthful years in service to others, three brave women and many people who know Judge Kavanaugh indicate otherwise.

The continued reluctance of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Trump administration to allow the FBI to thoroughly investigate these matters undermines Judge Kavanaugh’s credibility even more. In addition, the Senate GOP’s rush to confirm him and to ‘plow right through’ serious allegations while debasing and insulting survivors of sexual assault has brought our democracy to a new low. This charade must immediately cease. Someone needs to be the adult in the room and restore order.”
