Statement of Jocelyn Frye, President of the National Partnership for Women & Families WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 17, 2024 – The National Partnership for Women & Families today announced the addition of Jennifer M. Ng'andu to the Board of Directors and...
“The Obama administration took another badly needed step to improve women’s health today by issuing guidance that underscores that insurers must cover all FDA-approved birth control, as well as related services and counseling, without cost-sharing or deductibles under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
The law is clear and today’s guidance should have a demonstrably positive impact on women’s health. The Affordable Care Act is the greatest advance for women’s health in a generation but its provisions must be enforced to maximize its impact. Today’s guidance should reduce any confusion and put all parties on notice that the contraceptive coverage provisions of the law will be enforced.
It is appropriate that this guidance was released now, during National Women’s Health Week, because birth control is basic health care for women. Contraception is essential to women’s health, dignity and ability to care for our families, and to function as full and equal partners in our society.”
