“In shutting down the government, the Trump administration’s callousness toward families has reached a new despicable low. This move jeopardizes the critical services our nation provides while also forcing government workers to head into the holidays facing job insecurity.
What’s worse is that this shutdown is motivated by a heartless and cruel immigration policy that aims to separate families and fund an inhumane border wall that even most Republicans agree is unrealistic.
Our nation’s families deserve better. We call on Congress to end this shutdown immediately, reject the President’s wall tantrum, and act quickly to restore critical funding for real family supporting programs.”
