“The public charge rule the Trump administration issued today would make our country less healthy, our communities less strong and our families less economically secure. It would create intolerable penalties for using government programs designed to improve health, provide food and nutrition and promote economic stability, and will force families to forego those services.
This rule is heartless and short-sighted. It would make immigrants second-class citizens, continue the Trump administration’s appalling anti-immigrant policies and undermine our core values as a nation. It should never be adopted.”
