NPWF President: "Robust interventions to address the substantial racial inequities in maternal health in the United States are long overdue and require immediate action." WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 19, 2023 – Today, the National Partnership for Women...
“We applaud President Obama for vetoing the outrageous reconciliation bill, which would have caused real harm to women’s health. Passing this legislation was a callous attempt by anti-choice, anti-women members of Congress to gut the Affordable Care Act (ACA) – the greatest advance for women’s health in a generation – and stop women from accessing the high-quality, essential health care that Planned Parenthood provides.
The constant attacks on the ACA and Planned Parenthood have demonstrated that too many lawmakers prioritize politics over women’s health. It must stop. Our country needs policies that promote quality, affordable, high-value health care – that help women access birth control and abortion care – that protect economic security – that help women and families survive and thrive.
We urge Congress to abandon destructive policies like the failed reconciliation bill and instead turn its attention to governing in the nation’s best interest this year.”
