Statement of Jocelyn Frye, President of the National Partnership for Women & Families WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 28, 2024 – Today, the Supreme Court upended sound, longstanding, legal precedent that has provided protections for everyday people for decades...
“Discrimination is a plague that continues to diminish our country in countless ways. The Supreme Court used the Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission case to affirm the core principle that businesses must be open to all, and to acknowledge the right of LGBTQ people to live free from discrimination. The justices did not accept arguments that would have reversed progress on equal rights. This case was reversed based on issues that are germane only to it.
At the National Partnership for Women & Families, we are absolutely dedicated to eradicating discrimination in all its forms, and stand side-by-side with all our allies and partners in working tirelessly to achieve that goal.”
