Dear Members of Congress,
Paid family and medical leave is essential for meeting the needs of working people, strengthening the economy, and supporting businesses of all sizes. Yet despite overwhelming evidence of its benefits, millions of American workers still lack access to this basic protection. The private sector must work alongside our nation’s leaders to ensure that all working families have the ability to take time off to address serious health and caregiving needs – without risking their livelihoods. The companies listed below have come together to urge Congress to pass the Family and Medical Insurance Leave (FAMILY) Act, establishing a national paid family and medical leave plan that would benefit workers and businesses across the country.
As leading employers, we strive every day to create workplaces that allow our employees to thrive. We have seen firsthand the countless benefits of paid family and medical leave for the wellbeing of our employees, our workplace culture, and the growth of our companies, including reduced administrative costs, higher retention rates and increased employee productivity and morale. With proven benefits for our employees and overwhelming bipartisan voter support, this legislation provides a solution all employees deserve and our country needs.
A national paid family and medical leave plan is long overdue. We urge the passage of the FAMILY Act to build support for working families, strengthen our businesses, and create a more secure future for everyone.

Business leaders support the FAMILY Act

”At Athletes Unlimited, we believe the FAMILY Act is a vital step toward ensuring paid family and medical leave is a right—not a privilege. As a pioneer in women’s sports, we’ve seen the power of sport to break down barriers. We carry that same spirit to how we prioritize the wellbeing of our athletes and employees, some of whom are mothers. From the beginning, we’ve worked to build a culture where our team is supported in both their professional and personal lives, including through family and caregiving support. We’re proud to join others in advocating for the support of working people in every industry.”
– Jon Patricof, CEO of Athletes Unlimited

“At Bobbie, we know that Paid Leave is more than good for parents and families – it’s good for business—which is why we proudly offer 4 months of paid leave and up to 12 months in total of protected leave to birthing and non-birthing parents. We are proud to endorse the reintroduction of the Family Act, which we not only support, but see as an economic imperative for modern parenthood and working families. We are in this fight for the long haul and are hopeful that lawmakers will pass the Family Act once and for all.”
– Michele Lampach, Director of Impact, Bobbie.
“The passage of the FAMILY Act marks a meaningful step forward in supporting American families. At Bugaboo, our mission is to empower parents, and we believe every family deserves the time and support to be present for those critical early weeks.”
– Jeanelle Teves, Chief Commercial Officer, Bugaboo

Cocoon supports the FAMILY Act because we believe paid leave is a human right. People should never have to choose between taking leave and getting paid, but that’s the situation far too many Americans find themselves in without a national paid leave policy. Other countries have shown that paid leave pays off, and it’s time for the U.S. to step up and give employees the support they deserve.”
– Mahima Chawla, CEO and Co-Founder, Cocoon

”Paid leave isn’t just good for big business; it is a necessity for micro-entrepreneurs. For millions, including many of Etsy’s 5.6 million sellers – most of whom are women running one-person businesses from their homes – taking time off for an illness or to care for a child often means losing income. We need policies that recognize and support the realities of running a small business so creative entrepreneurs can thrive without having to choose between their families and their livelihoods.”
– Jeffrey Zubricki, Global Head of Advocacy and Public Policy, Etsy

“Levi Strauss & Co. is proud to continue to support the Family and Medical Insurance Leave Act (FAMILY Act). Paid family and medical leave is not only the right thing to do for employees, but it’s the smart thing to do for business. We have seen firsthand that providing access to paid leave is critical for supporting healthy and successful employees and their families, which in turn allows them to perform better at work. LS&Co. applauds the effort to create a comprehensive national paid leave policy that benefits America’s workers and our economy.”
– Bernard Bedon, Chief Human Resources Officer, Levi Strauss & Co.

”Making onsite childcare available and offering paid family and medical leave is not just ethical, it’s foundational to Patagonia’s mission to save the home planet. To retain and attract top talent and create a more supportive and productive work culture, we need policies that encourage women to stay here. I don’t even think of this as a ‘benefit,’ it’s a business imperative.”
– Jenna Johnson, President, Patagonia

”At Perelel, we believe that supporting women’s health means supporting the full spectrum of her experience—including the critical transition into parenthood. A national paid leave policy like the FAMILY Act isn’t just a matter of economic justice—it’s a public health imperative. Every woman deserves time to recover from childbirth, bond with her baby, and access postpartum care without the added burden of financial stress. We proudly support the FAMILY Act because no one should have to choose between their health, their family, and their livelihood.” – Alex Taylor, Co-Founder of Perelel
”Paid leave is a proven economic driver, reducing the number of women leaving their jobs after childbirth by 20% in states that have implemented it. By extending these benefits across the country, the FAMILY Act would keep more parents in the workforce and potentially increase the GDP of the United States by up to $1 trillion. It’s time to acknowledge paid leave as the bipartisan economic solution our nation needs and to stop using it as a negotiating chip.”
– Deborah Hanus, CEO & Co-Founder at Sparrow

“The FAMILY Act is an important piece of legislation, and UncommonGoods is proud to support it. Paid family leave insurance should be in every business model and the benefit is clear; a more productive workforce leads to a better bottom line. When workers succeed, businesses succeed and the FAMILY Act will help make this happen.”
– David Bolotsky, Founder and CEO, Uncommon Goods
