NPWF President: "Robust interventions to address the substantial racial inequities in maternal health in the United States are long overdue and require immediate action." WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 19, 2023 – Today, the National Partnership for Women...
“Today the House Judiciary Committee committed a callous act that demonstrated deep and fundamental disregard for the health and well-being of America’s women.
The misnamed and deeply cynical ‘No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act’ is not only about ensuring that federal funds do not pay for abortion care. It is about making a bad policy worse. For decades, federal law has prohibited the use of taxpayer dollars for abortion services for women who rely on the government for their health care. This unjust policy has caused real harm to low-income women, military women, and many other women facing unintended pregnancies who get health care through the federal government.
But now, the House is trying to impose its extreme ideology on the private insurance market by eliminating premium assistance and tax credits for individuals and small businesses who want to keep or get plans that cover this basic service.
The extremists prevailed today in the House Judiciary Committee, proving that they are badly out-of-touch with the majority of Americans who want lawmakers to focus on economic recovery, jobs and improved health care — not an extreme, anti-woman agenda.”
