Press Statement
Cassidy-Collins Bill ‘Puts Women’s Health at Risk,’ Ness Says

“The Patient Freedom Act of 2017, introduced today by Senators Cassidy (R-LA) and Collins (R-ME) fails to ensure that women will be able to rely on the coverage benefits and protections they have under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and therefore threatens to reverse the enormous gains we’ve made in health coverage and care.

Despite public disapproval, leaders in Congress are rushing down a dangerous path to destroy the greatest advance for women’s health in a generation. In their misguided quest to repeal the ACA, Republicans in Congress are jeopardizing the health coverage of 30 million people.

Congress should listen to the voices of women in America and focus not on repealing the ACA, but on prioritizing women’s health, including reproductive health, which is essential to strengthening the economic security of our families and country.”
