Dr. Don Berwick, Administrator, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, To Meet with Health Care Providers, Patients and Consumer Advocates at Ohio Campaign for Better Care Roundtable Wednesday

On Wednesday, August 10 at noon, Dr. Don Berwick — the head of the agency responsible for Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, which together provide care to nearly one in three Americans — will be in Cincinnati to talk with patients, consumer advocates and health care providers about a new initiative to promote safer care by reducing hospital acquired infections and unnecessary hospital readmissions. The national and Ohio Campaigns for Better Care are sponsoring the event, which will be at:

In addition to Dr. Berwick, speakers at the Roundtable will include:

The Campaign for Better Care aims to ensure that the reformed health care system provides the comprehensive, coordinated, patient- and family-centered care that older adults and individuals with multiple health problems need. It is advocating for better ways of delivering care including effective care coordination, transition management, medication reconciliation, support for patients and their family caregivers, and care that is culturally and linguistically appropriate.
