NPWF President: "Robust interventions to address the substantial racial inequities in maternal health in the United States are long overdue and require immediate action." WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 19, 2023 – Today, the National Partnership for Women...
Vicki Shabo, vice president for workplace policies and strategies for the National Partnership for Women & Families, will testify before the Senate Finance Subcommittee on Social Security, Pensions, and Family Policy on Wednesday to advocate for a comprehensive, inclusive national paid leave program. Shabo will discuss the country’s need for paid leave, testifying about why a parents-only leave program that excludes leave for family care and personal medical needs and forces parents to choose between paid leave and retirement security would fall short of meeting the nation’s needs.
Shabo will emphasize that America’s workers, families, businesses and economy need real paid leave that is sustainably funded and she will urge Congress to support the Family And Medical Insurance Leave (FAMILY) Act — the only paid leave plan before Congress that meets that test.
