“The Supreme Court today significantly undermined more than 30 years of established law requiring abortion restrictions to include an exception to safeguard women’s health. Instead, the Court decided that politicians will make medical decisions that should be made by doctors.
Justice Ginsburg, the lone woman remaining on the Court, powerfully notes in dissent that today’s ruling is ‘alarming’ and ‘cannot be understood as anything other than an effort to chip away at a right declared again and again by this Court.’ We could not agree more.
It is a sad day for all Americans who believe that the Constitution should protect an individual’s right to make personal decisions without intrusion from government. This decision is a stark reminder of the importance of having judges and justices who will respect and protect our fundamental freedoms.”
